Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some answers to questions I get commonly asked, please feel free to get in touch if you have any other questions.

Do you have a gallery or shop?

I do not operate from a gallery or shop that is open to the public – I have a private workshop where you can visit me by prior appointment. If you do wish to call by, please call to arrange a convenient time.

Alternatively, and uniquely, I offer a home visit consultation, collection and delivery service for which I charge a small fee based on the distance from my workshop in Kirkburton HD8 0PF:

£10.00 within a 5 mile radius.

£15.00 within a 5-10 mile radius.

£20.00 within a 10-20 mile radius.

Can you supply just the cardboard mounts?

Yes, but for mount only requests please be aware that there is a minimum charge of £20.00.

How long will it take to do?

Turnaround time for carrying out framing work is generally a minimum of 14 working days depending on my existing workload and whether I have the required materials in stock. Any special framing requirements can take longer and are subject to product availability and delivery schedules with my suppliers.

If you require a picture framing in less than 7 days the price will be subject to a 50% surcharge in addition to all other materials and labour costs. This is irrelevant of picture size and is wholly dependent on the chosen materials being held in my stock.

Can you repair / re-glaze / re-frame pictures?

Yes, but for any alterations or repairs to existing pictures there is a minimum charge of £25.00. The price wholly depends on the work involved – sometimes it can work out more cost effective to just completely re-frame a picture from scratch.

Please note that any pictures originally framed by BDL Framing carry a 2-year guarantee against defects in workmanship and materials, therefore any repairs will be carried out free of charge.

How much will it cost?

There are several factors that dictate the cost for framing your picture, so when you enquire about prices I will need to know:

  • What it is you want framing – an original Picasso or a postcard?
  • Is it a canvas, painting on paper, print or photograph etc? How big is it?
  • I need at least a bit of an idea of how you would like it framing – there is a vast choice of frame mouldings available and prices vary considerably.
  • Any special glass requirements – anti-reflective, conservation?

The more information you provide the easier it will be to give you an accurate cost. Photos of the artwork to be framed and photos of the type of frame you have in mind are always very useful.

I offer a bespoke framing service, and take a lot of pride in my work. As a small business I am unable to frame on the cheap – if you want something cheap I advise you to go to the likes of Ikea, The Range or Dunelm Mill, who all stock ranges of very affordable frames that you may find suitable.

To give you a basic idea of my pricing – to frame an A4 picture my prices start at £25.00.

I offer a fair and competitive service and I am confident you will be delighted with the results. I have many loyal customers, including galleries and artists, who return on a regular basis and the majority of my clients come to me as a result of a personal recommendation.
